Data Center uses MeeFog™ for AC Condenser Cooling

A major financial institution in New York City operates its own data center. It needed to protect its cooling system from tripping offline on hot days. Unlike most data centers which are located in rural areas, this is a high-rise building in the middle of a dense urban area where crowded rooftop temperatures reach 115°F — exceeding outdoor ambient temperatures by more than ten degrees.

To keep the data center operating, they needed to find a way to get more cooling out of the condensers it had by bringing down the inlet air temperature. After experimenting with lawn water sprinklers to spray water into the inlet air on the bottom of the condensers, they decided to put in a more efficient and controllable MeeFog™ system to keep the glycol temperature and pressure within limits.
