In 2023, Buffalo Air Handling expanded its facilities into Lynchburg, VA, converting 60,000 square feet of the former RR Donnelly building into additional manufacturing space, with room for growth. Buffalo Air is committed to expanding to meet ever-increasing demand, and has invested significantly into the space, adding four new cranes, and is growing its business in Lynchburg by adding around 30 new jobs.
Buffalo Air Handling already works with and/or sells to local companies such as Aerofin, Southern Air, Moore’s, Hajoca, Centra Health, BWXT, and Wiley/Wilson, so it is excited to have a location that is more centric and accessible to both customers and suppliers alike.
About Buffalo Air Handling
Buffalo Air Handling has been around for more than 100 years, beginning in 1878 as Buffalo Forge, which specialized in manufacturing blacksmith forges. The company quickly grew, and the product line included dust collectors, industrial steam engines, and factory machinery. Early in the 20th century, Buffalo Forge began designing key elements of modern air conditioning systems, thus becoming a leader in air handling/heating and cooling technology. When custom air handling units emerged as a specific market need in the mid-20th century, the company grew and expanded to the hospital, pharmaceutical, and laboratory markets.
In 1977, the facility in Amherst, VA, was constructed to manufacture air handling units. In 1980, Buffalo Air Handling became part of the Ampco-Pittsburgh corporation and joined companies such as Aerofin and Buffalo Pumps, Inc.
In 2023, Buffalo Air Handling expanded its facilities into Lynchburg, VA, converting 60,000 sq. feet of the former RR Donnelly building into additional manufacturing space, with room for growth.
